The Thinker

I could spend hours at any zoo - I LOVE animals and really enjoy getting the opportunity to photograph animals I'd normally not be able to see without traveling 1/2 way around the world. I was lucky enough to visit the St. Louis Zoo on a weekday last fall when it wasn't busy - it was a bit overcast and the threat of rain kept a lot of people away. As a result of that weather, I was the only one in the ape house that day and got to spend about an hour sitting and watching these magnificent creatures. This lovely lady, named Jontu, sat in this particular position for nearly 15 minutes. I'm not sure if it was the shutter noise from my camera that distracted her or just my continued presence but she charged at me and pounded on the glass sending me scrambling backwards.
